Asking prices up 24 months running, contract prices down three: which Greater Tokyo number have you been reading?
At the end of August, at-home reported that July asking prices for second-hand condominiums across Greater Tokyo had risen for a 24th consecutive month. For that same July, REINS data shows actual contract prices falling for a third month and transaction volumes for a fourth. Both numbers are true — they measure different things, and the one you see on property portals is usually the first.
